4.       Consider that assumptions can be revised for any of the three causes of variances. Timing differences may recur, requiring rearrangements of future monthly totals. Wrong assumptions require an immediate change in the budget. Assumptions must also be changed when controls are needed. Some time, perhaps several months, may be required to correct a negative trend, and this curve should be built into the budget.
